Paying electricity bills from a remote village in the state of West Bengal, without
having to travel miles to pay on time, is a reality today. This has been achieved through the Srei-Sahaj-WBSEDCL partnership. The state owned power utility company earned a revenue of Rs 6,500 crore, a surplus of crore during 2007-08 fiscal. Lacking in power surplus is not the issue but lack of certainty on the amount of surplus, is what hinders power trading.
