The University of Kalyani was established in 1960 with a campus area of over 400 acres (1.6 km2) in Kalyani town, West Bengal, India. This university is providing academic guidance and leadership to 37 affiliated colleges. Currently Prof (Dr.) Alok K Banerjee is the Vice Chancellor of this University. The University is situated in a locality surrounded by a rural setting within a serene background. Yet, its distance from Kolkata is only 50 km. The University provides faculties for Science, Arts and Commerce, Education, Engineering Tech and Management, Law, Music and Fine arts. The total number of academic departments is 25.

The Karnataka University is one of the handful Universities in the Country. It was established initially at Mumbai in 1949, the location was shifted to Dharwad in October, 1949 and Karnatak University had its official inauguration in March 1950. The university is the second oldest, after University of Mysore, in the state of Karnataka. The university was also recognized with the “Potential for Excellence” by UGC (University Grants Commission of India). At the time, the university has three faculties, viz., arts, science and Social Science. The University provides Graduate, P. G. Graduate, Diploma courses etc. academic program.
