Kanakadasa wrote about two hundred forty Karnataka Music compositions Kirtane, Ugabhogas, padas and mundiges or philosophical songs besides five major works. He was initiated by Vyasaraya. Kanaka Dasa was one of the devotees of Krishna and an influential person in the Vaishnava bhakti movement in Karnataka. Bhakta Kanakadasa is a Kannada movie, depicting the spiritual journey of Kanakadasa, who was a devotee and poet belonging to the Dasa sect.It stars Dr Rajkumar, Krishnakumari, Uday Kumar in major roles. He lived at Tirupathi in his last days. He believed that if teachers are trained rightly, the students will get an opportunity to learn better.
